Review of the new Mareh release

The Brazilian parallel to our beloved Adriatic jaunts, Electric Elephant and The Garden, takes a giant leap into the world of releases with this debut offering featuring a couple of Mareh festival favourites. Taking a sequined shimmy between disco and house, the label invited NYC legend Eric Duncan and renowned Disco Deviants Pete Herbert & Dicky Trisco to throw down a weapons grade party starter each. The Combi kid wins the toss (he is one half of Rub ‘N’ Tug after all) and goes first, continuing the wall shaking form he’s shown on his Rhythm Odyssey collaborations with the heavy duty “Nerve Control”. This electronic odyssey fuses italo disco and house into a serious dancefloor workout that’ll work just as well next to Klein & MBO as it will UR. Heavyweight synthlines ride an irresistible Roland groove as Dunc turns the heat up over and over again. Massive! On the flip, Messrs. Herbert & Trisco record a personal best with the sublime “Disco De Chocolate”. The track gets off to a good start with the killer rhythm section of rattling percussion and a sleek synthetic disco bassline before the duo take things to the next level with string, horn and vocal snippets. As the track gains momentum, the bassline builds into a floor shredding monster, laying waste to all the other records in your bag. Huge! So gather your friends around, listen to the music, drink, dance and party – Mareh Music is here and celebrating 10 years in style!’
